Just finished reading a really interesting short book on the 1941 Strand Theater fire in Brockton, MA that claimed 13 of their heroic firefighters. The authors (Benson & Casper) did an extensive research job with tons of names and details of those involved in the loss and its aftermath. Most of us had never heard of this tragedy. I recommend it to anyone interested in one of those deadly days that can suddenly turn up in a first responder's life. Thanks to Brockton Deputy Chief Ed Williams and retired Chief Ken Galligan for last February's tour of their fire museum, hosting me as a speaker, and giving me this book. Stay well.
