Watching a film that keeps you on the edge of your seat is a rare treat. My wife and I recently experienced that with The RIP, an action-packed movie starring Boston buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The film delivers gripping suspense and unexpected twists that kept us hooked from start to finish. Beyond the excitement of the movie itself, there’s an intriguing connection to another project close to my heart: the upcoming feature film adaptation of my book, Burn Boston Burn. This post dives into the thrills of The RIP and shares insights into the development of Burn Boston Burn, including my upcoming live podcast appearances and speaking engagements.

The RIP: A Boston Action Film That Delivers

The RIP stands out as a powerful action film with a strong Boston connection. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, both Boston natives, bring authenticity and chemistry to their roles that elevate the story. The film’s plot is packed with suspenseful moments and twists that surprise even seasoned action fans.

What makes The RIP especially engaging is its balance between high-energy action sequences and well-crafted storytelling. The characters are more than just action heroes; their relationships and personal struggles add depth to the narrative. This combination keeps viewers invested beyond the explosions and chases.

Key Highlights of The RIP

  • Strong Boston setting: The city itself feels like a character, with recognizable landmarks and local culture woven into the story.

  • Dynamic performances: Damon and Affleck’s natural rapport shines through, making their characters believable and relatable.

  • Suspense and twists: The plot avoids predictability, offering unexpected turns that maintain tension throughout.

  • High-quality production: From cinematography to sound design, the film’s technical aspects enhance the immersive experience.

For fans of action films with a solid story and authentic local flavor, The RIP is a must-watch.

Mike McGrale’s Role and the Burn Boston Burn Connection

One of the most exciting aspects of The RIP is the involvement of screenwriter and co-producer Mike McGrale. Mike played a crucial role in shaping the film’s screenplay, contributing to its gripping narrative and suspenseful pacing.

Mike is also nearly finished writing the screenplay for Burn Boston Burn, the feature film adaptation of my book. This project is currently under development and promises to bring the intense world of fire and fire

investigation to the big screen. Mike’s experience with The RIP has been invaluable in crafting a screenplay that captures the drama and complexity of real-life investigations.

What to Expect from Burn Boston Burn

  • Authentic storytelling: Drawing on decades of fire and explosion investigation experience, the story offers a realistic look at the challenges and dangers faced by investigators.

  • Engaging characters: The film will explore the personal and professional lives of those involved, adding emotional depth.

  • Thrilling plot: Expect suspenseful moments and unexpected developments that keep viewers engaged.

  • Educational elements: The film aims to shed light on the science and techniques behind fire investigation, making it both entertaining and informative.

The collaboration with Mike McGrale ensures that Burn Boston Burn will be a compelling film that resonates with audiences interested in action, suspense, and real-world drama.

Sharing Stories and Knowledge Through Live Events

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is sharing the stories behind Burn Boston Burn and other investigations through live presentations. My 2026 calendar is filling up quickly with podcast appearances and speaking engagements, where I connect with audiences ranging from library visitors to senior centers and professional fire investigators.

Types of Engagements

  • Public presentations: These sessions are designed to entertain and inform general audiences about fire investigation and the stories behind the book and film.

  • Training sessions: For fire investigators and related professionals, I offer in-depth training based on real cases and investigative techniques.

  • Conferences and seminars: For example, I will be speaking for eight hours at the upcoming Northern Ohio Arson Seminar, sharing detailed insights and case studies.

These events provide a unique opportunity to pass on knowledge gained through decades of experience, while also promoting the upcoming film and book projects.
